• The Standard Book of "Rapid Prototyping" by Prof. Dr. Gebhardt

Already for the fifteenth time, the Euromold - World Fair for Moldmaking and Tooling, Design and Application Development - opened its gates and we have again been part of it. Our guests took the chance to inform themselves about the state of art in rapid prototyping and discuss its possibilities and powers especially for their applications.

We displayed exclusive examples of our work, produced with all kinds of rapid prototyping processes: prototypes and small batches produced by stereolithography, laser sintering, 3D-printing, FDM and vacuum casting or plastic injection and precision casting.

For the first time CP took part at FAKUMA in Friedrichshafen, the international trade fair for plastics processing, and it was directly a success! Many guests visited our booth and also the quality of the discussions was orientated on the practice and specified on the individual applications. Guests from Germany, Switzerland and Austria learned by the displayed parts and the detailed discussions how prototypes can accelerate and improve the product development process in their companies.

More than 70 guests visited CP on the 13th customer's day, to inform themselves firsthand about the technique and the state of the art of prototyping in praxis and theory.

Our guests got a look backstage and saw how prototypes are being built, who the employees are and which machines are being used. Prof. Dr. Andreas Gebhardt offered parallel lectures on the basics of rapid prototyping and showed applications from different industrial and non industrial sectors.

In a quite pleasant atmosphere the guests learned also how to use "prototyping"-techniques for the economic realisation of small-series and spare parts.

The book "Rapid Prototyping" by Prof. Dr. Andreas Gebhardt is the most comprehensive and encyclopaedic book on Rapid Prototyping.

The book is strictly orientated on the practical use of Rapid Prototyping. Based on the principles and the main generative fabrication processes, today's most competitive applications as well as future trends and strategies are discussed in detail.

The book addresses students and lecturers as well as engineers, engineering designers and technicians in industry who are working in the field of product development, testing and production including tool makers and tool designers.

Prof. Dr. Andreas Gebhardt is managing partner of the CP GmbH. Since 2000 he holds the chair of Advanced Fabrication Technology and Rapid Prototyping at the Aachen University of Applied Sciences, Aachen, Germany.
